Hello, I am Carole Hardy, originally from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire in the UK. I have a long career in
education and have a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Education. I worked in Australia and Nauru
as a secondary school teacher before completing a CELTA qualification to teach English in 2015. Since
then I have worked in Moscow teaching English mainly to adults but also to children aged 3-12. I have
taught Business English, General English and specialise in IELTS preparation. I have been involved in
preparation for other Cambridge exams including KET, PET, FCE, CPE, BEC – Vantage and Higher. For the
last two summers I have been teaching at a Summer School for 12-18 year olds in Oxford at one of the
universities. These are residential courses with students from all over Europe, the Middle East and
China.
I am particularly interested in textiles, food and travel and have been to Uzbekistan before and am
already the proud owner of several Suzani and Ikat jackets. I am very happy and excited to have the
opportunity to work and live in Uzbekistan and learn more about the culture and history.

My earliest experience of teaching was as a musician. Like most musicians I also taught practical music, in my case how to play brass instruments, which I started doing when I was 18. I continued doing this and later teaching in the education departments in museums and Cardiff City Farm until I started teaching English as a foreign language.
I moved to Germany in 1997 where I settled, first teaching language schools in Magdeburg and the Oschersleben adult education college. Once established I began teaching at the local universities and technical universities teaching courses as diverse as English for Postgraduate Thermodynamics and Presentation Skills for Disaster Management. Running parallel with this I was teaching in house at various companies running after work business English lessons at a variety of levels for my own language school. When I returned to England I taught freelance for a short while before starting at LTC College in London and when it was taken over by Union College in May 2010 became head of the English Department. Since it closed I have been freelance, working on various projects including an setting up an online English school.
Some of the more specialist courses, developed by myself for my own school in Germany, were English for museum conservators, English for architects, English for artists and English for car designers at the VW plant in Wolfsburg. While in Germany I was co-editor of a textbook for architecture students at the Hochschule Anhalt and a trilingual book (English, German, and Slovak) for kindergartens. I have also published a few papers in other disciplines.
Throughout my teaching career I have kept up with my musical performance, playing in many styles and in many venues, from Renaissance brass music at the Basilica San Marco in Venice, to representing Germany at an international festival in Lithuania playing in a folk rock group.
My first degree was from De Montfort University in Leicester which was followed by an MPhil by research from Cardiff University. I also hold various other academic qualifications and certificates.
Hello, I’m Rebecca Vernon, originally from Kent in the South-East of England. I’ve always been interested in different cultures so have made the most of any opportunity to travel, work and live in different places such as New York, Indonesia, France, China, Turkey, Iraq and many more although I have lived in Italy for just over 20 years. My BA and MA are in International Relations and I have worked for various non-profit organisations in development, arts and sport, however I also have more than 20 years experience as an English teacher. I have been lucky to work with all different ages, levels and needs from kindergarten to medical and business language, however the majority of my experience has been with 11-14 year olds.
Obviously I enjoy getting to know new people. I spend most of my free time walking, taking photographs, visiting galleries and museums, reading, listening to all different types of music and of course getting together with friends for a good meal, although I’m not such a good cook anymore I still make a very tasty chocolate cake.
I’m looking forward to moving to Tashkent meeting and teaching lots of new students and learning all about Uzbekistan.
Hi everyone, my name is John Bloxam. I come from a district in the South-West of England called The Cotswolds. I have a BA degree, Trinity TESOL and more than five years of post-qualification teaching experience. I have taught at language centres in Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and Kazakhstan, as well as some private tutoring experiences in Indonesia, Thailand, Romania and Ukraine.
I have taught all levels (A1+), all ages (3+), Business English, In-House English, Exam Preparation (FCE, PTE & IELTS), Lectures, 1 to 1, and online. In my free time, I enjoy travel writing, video production and long motorbike rides.
Looking forward to meeting you in my class and learning more about Uzbekistan!
